Because I have been blogging for many years, I am also a follower of fellow bloggers. One of my new ones is a guy https://time-management.ga/5-result-getting-time-management-tips/ who writes about Time Management.
I have joked that I have the time management skills of a turnip. But that’s really no joke. So, I have embarked on the journey of becoming a time management expert. Well…at least more in the cherry category than the turnip.
One of the things that he mentioned on this list of 5 top things to hone your skills (I like 5…it’s not 10 or 15 or so many I am asleep before I can reach the bottom of the list ) is to prioritize your goals and actions. It helped me sort out my list from a hodge-podge of weird to-do’s to distinct steps to be taken beneath clear headings.
I tend to jump around between housework and blogging, researching and yardwork, adulting paperworky chores and physical fitness, with no discernible organization or plan.
Enter my new schedule, written on scratch paper, divided into days of the week and implemented for the first time today. I have to say…one day in…it feels pretty good.
First, things that I take for granted that I do first thing in the morning automatically because they are important to me…actually made the list. Why is this important? Because it is one more thing (or three) to check off and have a sense of accomplishment about.
Second, I broke my writing down into three distinct sections and segmented them into days. This gives me a concentrated amount of time to work on each one instead of lumping them all under the same heading of “writing” and jumping from one to the other! Today was book day! So I opened my mind to the creative process and set it free. Now, at the end of the day…I feel so happy with my results that I am inspired to blog about it.
So, my suggestion today is :
If you are looking to make better use of your time…or if you are feeling overwhelmed by the number of tasks you have to complete. Or if you are feeling exhausted at the end of the day with not much accomplishment to show for it….Try a bit of time management.
